The competition takes the form of an essay written by teams of two to four students on themes involving ethics, business and sport.
The objectives of this competition are :
- to promote the application of the Olympic ideals and vision to the world of business, including the business of sport itself
- to raise awareness of and promote understanding of ethical issues and challenges in sports and the business of sport

to encourage an exploration of how the principles of sportsmanship might be relevant to, applied to and of benefit to the competitive business environment

to consider how good practice and academic learning in the field of business ethics can best be applied to the sports industry

to encourage students and academics to explore these themes through research

to encourage teamwork amongst students

to promote the sharing of knowledge, expertise and good practice in these areas
How to apply
- Be submitted by via email to essay@coubertin-awards.org.uk
- Be accompanied by a fully completed entry form (click here to download)
- Be submitted in a pdf, doc or docx format
- Be written in English
- Not exceed 3,500 words (excluding footnotes/references)
- State the total word count at the end of the entry
- Be written in font Verdana, size 11, double line spaced
- Include on the front page the Student names, tutor’s name and university, title and short form title of the essay
- Include an abstract of c. 250 words on the front page
- Include a header (on each page) of the short form title of the essay
- Include a footer with relevant page numbers
Eligibility
Full or part time student at a UK university studying on an under-graduate or post-graduate course.
