Climate change is recognized as a priority challenge that humanity is facing in the 21st century and some of its consequences – like increased frequency and intensity of natural hazards – are already being felt.
Are you able to utilise creative photo skills and bring out your best efforts in this climate change photography competition?
Put your skills and creativity to the test, apply comprehensive knowledge and generate innovative thinking regarding actions required to accelerate measures for fighting climate change consequences.
Climate change is not an isolated phenomenon; on the contrary, it will affect young people in all aspects of their lives. The impact of climate change will in many cases be strongest in developing countries, and thus climate change poses a threat to development, as it risks hampering access to water, food, sanitation and security, among other things. Indeed, if we don't implement adequate responses to climate change, the long term achievement of the Millennium Development Goals are at risk.
As more young people than ever before live in the world, on the eve of events that will affect them during their whole lives, capacitating and involving young people in the response to climate change is crucial.
Task:
- Show, in pictures, the climate change problems and solutions that are important to participants. This could be a piece of research that has the potential to address an environmental issue that needs more urgent attention- climate change. Also, it will encourage participants to undertake a subject matter that they are particularly passionate about.
- Photographs should contain positive messages that, for example, could show what people can do in their daily lives to generate innovative thinking regarding actions required to accelerate measures for fighting climate change consequences, to what we can do as communities, countries, and as global citizens.
- Photography has the power to capture the attention and interest of everyone, leaving them wanting to find out more and asking their own questions about what they see. Entries should aim to make the audience mindful about the issue that is being illustrated.
The best photographs will be promoted for monthly publication in mass-media and online media.
