Essay Competition Rules
1. Contestants must compose an original essay with limited guidance from others on the topic: “Sustainable
Agriculture for Regional Food Security”
2. Essays must be between 600-800 words, not including title or footnotes.
3. Contest is open to all students in grade 10-12 of secondary schools within the Bahamas.
4. Essays should be typewritten in English and must be double-spaced.
5. Each essay must bear: the name of the student, form, school, age and island. This information must be
placed on a separate cover sheet.
6. Each school should submit the Top Five Essays from among submissions received. Essays must be
submitted to Mr. Hamlin Newbold, Assistant Director of Education (Acting), Ministry of Education,
Thompson Boulevard, P.O. Box N-3913, Nassau, Bahamas not later than April 15, 2010.
7. The CDB has the right to publish or otherwise duplicate any essay provided that proper credit is given to its
author.
