Cash prize and student placement up for grabs in new design competition. UNITE, the UK´s leading student accommodation provider, has just launched Future Room, a new competition to design the student home of the future. The competition is open to all art, design and architectural students in London as well as others studying in the capital who have fresh, original ideas to share.
The winner will receive a prize of £2,500 and a work placement with Superfusionlab, a London architectural practice which has installed, exhibited and designed projects around the world. Entries will be judged by UNITE, Superfusionlab and Peter Kelly, Acting Editor of Blueprint, the leading magazine of architecture and design. What we´re looking for UNITE have been redefining traditional notions of student living space since it launched in 1991.
It is now looking for a London student to take this to the next level by looking ahead to 2050 and designing the ‘student home of the future’. Peter Kelly of Blueprint said: "We´re looking for the next generation of London´s student talent to inspire us with innovative designs. Ultimately, entries need to do what all great design does – be visually impressive, full of imaginative ideas and capture the attention of the wider public". The competition closes on Monday 22nd March 2010 and all entries must be received by 5pm on this day. Check out the next tab for the full brief and submission requirements.
