Do you want to change the outdoor lighting environment in Latin America?

Do you want your design ideas shared with global leaders in lighting and sustainability?

Do you want to win cash prizes for your ideas?

Then participate in this exciting opportunity to influence outdoor urban lighting in Latin America!

In order to promote the effective and sustainable use of outdoor lighting in Latin America, Philips Lighting and AES Latin America have joined together to offer a luminaire design competition, administered by the LRC.

The objective of this competition is to design a well-engineered, energy-efficient outdoor luminaire/lighting product or system suitable for use in public urban areas, such as city/town squares, plazas, and similar areas. Special consideration will be given to luminaires designed for low-income settlement areas or other such locations facing unique challenges.

The competition is open to full-time students enrolled in programs of industrial/product design, optics, lighting, engineering, architecture, urban design, and other related disciplines at accredited colleges and universities in the countries within Latin America including Mexico, Central America, South America and the Caribbean.

Students are required to submit one hard copy of the proposed luminaire design. It should consist of a color printout of the five slides, including the required summary slide, on five separate sheets of paper. The maximum size of each sheet is 11 inches x 17 inches. The hard copy should be mailed to the address provided on the application form. Application material will not be returned to the applicant.
