Could your idea improve construction sustainability, safety, efficiency or something else? Make a difference, win cash prizes and shape the world with COINS Grand Challenge, a competition to boost ideas and innovation.

COINS Grand Challenge is a global competition to support students, innovators, and entrepreneurs with big ideas. It’s free to enter and open to anyone whose idea could improve construction for the better. Ideas shortlisted for previous competitions include fungi insulation, bacteria based concrete and automated timber design tools.

Prizes include £2.5k for the Undergraduate competition winner and £1k for the runner up. The Open Competition features larger prizes plus a chance to win the £100k COINS Investment Prize. The competition is organised by global construction software company, Construction Industry Solutions Ltd (COINS), with the goal of kickstarting construction innovation.

The Undergraduate Competition is for anyone studying for a university undergraduate degree. The Open Competition is open to students, professionals, postgraduates – anyone with a viable idea. Team applications are welcome for both the Open and Undergraduate Competitions. Applicants may be of any nationality and citizenship but must be fluent in English and be 18 years of age or older.
