Lets Be #YoungElaeis Ambassador!!

The Council of Palm Oil Producing Countries (CPOPC) presents the #YoungElaeis Ambassador Program. The program aims to counter negative perceptions surrounding the palm oil industry, which has faced accusations of deforestation, forced labor, and health issues. The young ambassadors will work to promote the sustainability values of palm oil.

– Council of Palm Oil Producing Countries (CPOPC): Established in 2015, CPOPC is an intergovernmental organization comprising major palm oil-producing nations, including founding members Indonesia and Malaysia, along with Honduras. It was created to foster mutual cooperation among palm oil-producing nations.
– #YoungElaeis Ambassadors Program: This initiative, organized by CPOPC, gathers young representatives from selected nations as ambassadors to promote the sustainability principles of palm oil. The program targets individuals from high school students to university seniors and is part of CPOPC’s 8th-anniversary celebration on November 21, 2023.

– Eligibility: Participants must be aged between 17 and 30 years and citizens of CPOPC member countries (Indonesia, Malaysia, Honduras), Observer countries (Colombia, Ghana, Papua New Guinea, Thailand), or consumer countries (India, China, Pakistan, Bangladesh, UK, and EU countries). Preferably they have a minimum of 1,000 followers on a social media platform focusing on sustainability, with an active account for at least 3 years.
– Number of Participants: A total of 25 finalists will be selected internally by the committee to participate in the program.
– Categories: Winners will be selected based on their creativity, attractiveness, and awareness of the palm oil industry’s current status, aligning with the three pillars of sustainability: Smallholder, Circular Economy, and Sustainable Palm Oil.

– Prizes: Winners of the #YoungElaeis program stand to receive project funding of up to USD 26,000. Additionally, four selected winners will be invited to Indonesia and Malaysia to gain insights into the palm oil industry.

The #YoungElaeis Ambassador Program seeks to engage young individuals in promoting sustainability within the palm oil industry and dispelling misconceptions about it. Read more about the program in the provided link.
