St. Gallen Symposium – Global Essay Competition

Compete in the Global Essay Competition and get invited to the 53rd St. Gallen Symposium as a Leader of Tomorrow. The top 100 essay writers qualify for all-expenses covered participation at the conference, which takes place from May 2 – 3, 2024.

This includes a trip to Switzerland and the chance to meet over 600 world leaders from various fields. Over the years they have welcomed distinguished participants including Christine Lagarde, president of the European Central Bank, Satya Nadella, CEO of Microsoft, and Ayo Tometi, founder of the Black Lives Matter movement. On top of this, the top three entrants from the essay competition have the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to present their ideas in front of a distinguished audience and to share the grand prize of CHF 20’000.– (~ EUR 21’000.-).

The St. Gallen Symposium is the world’s leading initiative for cross-generational debates on economic, political, and social developments – completely organized by students. The goal is simple: transform ideas into action. They do this by bringing together key decision-makers in business, society, and politics with the most brilliant young minds of our generation to discuss current issues on a particular topic. This year, the St. Gallen Symposium will be held under the topic “Confronting Scarcity”.

To qualify as a Leader of Tomorrow, master or post-graduate students will have to answer the question: Striving for more or thriving with less – What pressing scarcity do you see, and how do you suggest to tackle it?
