Dear Young Innovator,

Greetings! Hope you are safe and doing well.

We are reaching out to you to share information about the call to applications for The Circular Economy Challenge 2020 (CEC 2020) from students, research scholars and young professionals from India and the European Union (EU) to address three Circular Economy related challenges.

We are rolling out three unique challenges to the students, research scholars and young professionals pan-India and the EU, to come up with great ideas and submit those. The Challenge invites innovative ideas focussing on technologies and business models on CE that can be scaled and replicated. The submissions are open to teams with 1 to 3 members from any stream of knowledge (Engineering, Management, Design, Policy and so on).

The submissions close on 31st October 2020 after which, the shortlisted teams shall be invited to virtual Mentorship session in November 2020. The shortlisted teams will be mentored by experts from India as well as the EU. A virtual pitching session will be organized in December 2020, where the winners shall be declared.

The winning teams will receive Financial Assistance from the Aditya Birla Group to further their Idea. All participants will be given membership to join CEkonnect, a knowledge network operated by Ekonnect on Circular Economy.

The CEC 2020 is supported by The European Union’s Resource Efficiency Initiative (EU-REI), a consortium working towards creating a dialogue on the need for resource efficient approaches in India among key government and non-governmental organisations, businesses, students, media and the general public. Their work also underscores the link between recovering raw materials from different material streams and creating an enabling ecosystem for the management of secondary raw materials. The primary sectors of interest are mobility, buildings and construction, renewable energy (photovoltaics), and resource recovery from waste (e-waste and plastics and packaging). For more information on EU-REI, please visit www.eu-rei.com

The design, outreach and selection process management of the CEC 2020 is conducted by Ekonnect Knowledge Foundation.
