About the competition
The Tokyo Design Awards is an international design competition recognizing excellence in architecture, interior, product, furniture, packaging, lighting, conceptual, and emerging design. Open to designers, studios, brands, and creative professionals worldwide, the awards celebrate innovation, creativity, and outstanding design while providing global recognition for work that shapes tomorrow.
Categories:
Featuring 12 unique categories: Architectural Design, Interior Design, Transportation Design, Product Design, Packaging Design, Lighting Design, Conceptual Design, Furniture Design, Landscape Design, Character & Pop Design, as well as individual achievements like Honorary Designer and Emerging Designer categories.
Eligibility:
The Tokyo Design Awards welcomes entries from a diverse range of global talent — including architects, interior designers, product designers, packaging designers, lighting designers, furniture designers, and transportation designers. Submissions are also open to creative agencies, brands, freelancers, emerging creators, and independent professionals from any country or background.
Submission Requirement:
All entries must be submitted for judging exactly as published or implemented and may not be modified for the competition. Tokyo Design Awards may request proof of initial production and / or publication date. Entries must be produced within the last FIVE (5) calendar years up through the final deadline.
Entry Brief:
Kindly provide a synopsis of your design of approximately 350 words. The brief should strengthen your entry, as well as providing the jury a better understanding of your project. A written translation or adaptation of non-English entries is highly recommended.
Image Submission:
The submissions should be saved in a flattened JPEG or JPG format. (keep them under 4MB, 1,200px wide is preferable, 300dpi, RGB).
2027 Entry Deadline & Fees:
Early Bird: Oct 30 - Nov 30, 2026 ($219 - $305)
Regular: Dec 1, 2026 - Dec 30, 2026 ($229 - $365)
Final: Dec 31 - Jan 25, 2027 ($249 - $405)
Final Extension: Jan 26 - Mar 11, 2027 ($259 - $425)

There are FIVE (5) levels of achievement in the competition:
